1.) Information that comes from J.K. Rowling’s interviews actually count as canon, so suck it.
2.) I actually like Pansy Parkinson. She’s supposed to be a giant brat – Rowling’s even described her as the anti-Hermione – but I think a lot of the hate she’s picked up in the fandom comes from jealous fangirls who want to get into Draco’s leather pants. I’m not saying that she’s completely innocent – she helped Draco with the “Weasley is Our King” song, gave information to Rita Skeeter, and, oh yeah, wanted to give Harry to Voldemort – but the amount of hate I’ve seen for her is kind of sad.
3.) Snape was a cruel, petty, vindictive little man who picked on children for most of his teaching career. His love for Lily Potter notwithstanding, I still think that Harry was a saint to forgive six years of torture at the hands of his teacher – and let’s not forget the fact that if it weren’t for Snape revealing the prophecy, Harry’s mother and father would still be alive. It shows how greatly Harry’s character has matured for him to be able to move on like that and insist that Snape be given a portrait with the other headmasters of Hogwarts. But, I digress. Snape is a polarizing character; you either love him or you hate him or you want to jump his bones, and why yes Snapefen I am looking at you.
